Videos Judo Rank System

THE JUDO RANK SYSTEM

Judo has a system of ranks which are designed to recognize a person's degree of competence, knowledge of the sport, and display of sportsmanship or leadership. There are separate ranks for juniors (under 17) and seniors (17 and over). Senior ranks are further divided into student (Kyu) grades and advanced or instructor (Dan) grades. Judo ranks are identified by colored belts.
